Description Free motion quilting gives you freedom and creativity with your sewing machine. This class in not your typical free motion class where you do stippling, meandering or echo around the lines, although we will touch on that. In this class you will learn how your quilting and the color of the thread can be used to emphasize or neutralize an area. We will be doing more exercises to loosen up your approach to stitching. Free motion can be used for quilting, thread painting, embellishment or drawing. You will get more out of this class if you also take the Auditioning Thread class. Sewing Machine Required Yes, Free Motion Required Materials to Bring • Sewing Machine with the ability to drop the feed dogs or a feed dog cover plate • Free motion or darning foot • Needles: what you usually use; 80/12 metallic or 90/12 topstitch or 75/11 universal or 80/12 sharp • Small thread scissors • Thread (Polyester, cotton, or rayon): • 6 –8 fabric sandwiches with a thin batting about 18 x 18 • Bobbins • Notebook to take notes • Sewing Machine manual if you do not know how to tighten or loosen your thread tension • Extension cord Optional Materials to Bring None Listed Materials Instructor Will Bring None Listed Notes From Instructor None Listed
