Biographical Information

Deborah Fell has been a studio artist committed to the art quilt medium for over twenty years. Her work resides in public, corporate and private collections. Fell has obtained national recognition for her work and has been a teacher for over 30 years. Fell’s work has been in Quilt National, internationally in the Arts in Embassies Program, national museums, galleries and St. Paul’s Trinity Church, former Ground Zero Headquarters. Fell teaches workshops and lectures on art quilt history, the business aspect of art, surface design and design composition. Fell’s art focuses on surface design combined with textures to create depth and movement. She is passionate about art, teaching and being a lifelong learner. Fell has obtained national recognition for her work and has been exhibited in Quilt National, internationally in the Arts in Embassies Program, national museums, galleries and St. Paul’s Trinity Church, former Ground Zero Headquarters. Fell’s art focuses on surface design combined with textures to create depth and movement. She is passionate about art, teaching and being a lifelong learner. Deborah has been a professional educator for over 30 years. Besides teaching at risk high school students in a public high school setting, Fell teaches workshops and lectures on art quilt history, the business aspect of art, surface design and design composition. Deborah obtained a Masters degree from Northern Illinois University along with graduate work at University of Illinois, University of New Hampshire and a fellowship at Northwestern University. Starting in 2012 Deborah will be teaching at the University of Illinois through the OLLI program. Deborah says, “Art allows us to move from one place to the next. I create art because I believe art makes a difference in our world; it is a gift we give ourselves and it is a celebration of our very souls.”
